The latest Dateline Disney has been released for July & August, 2010 and can be viewed here: wdwplanner.com/datelineaug10.htm

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Jerry Bruckheimer has announced that Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has started filming in Hawaii. This film will be directed by Rob Marshall and will be opening in 3D and 2D theaters on May 20, 2011. The highly-anticipated film stars Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, Kevin McNally, Stephen Graham, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Sam Claflin, Yuki Matsuzaki and Gemma Ward.

Werther’s Candy Shop to open in Epcot’s Germany Pavilion

The official name will be Karamelle-Kuche, or “caramel kitchen,” and the shop will take over the prior Glas and Porzellan shop in Epcot’s Germany Pavilion. The store will feature a show kitchen, in which cast members will be making caramel popcorn and apples, and caramel-covered strawberries and is set to open in September, 2010.

The shop will also sell gourmet caramels, cookies, brownies, fudge, and cupcakes. This is the only free-standing shop in the world for Storck, the makers of Werther’s candies, so there will also be some one-of-a-kind items.

Tron Legacy

Sam Flynn, the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn, looks into his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin's loyal confidant, father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.
This movie will star Jeff Bridges, Bruce Boxleitner, Michael Sheen, Olivia Wilde, and Garrett Hedlund. The movie is currently scheduled to be released on December 17, 2010.

Toy Story Mania! Ride – New Characters Added

New characters from the Disney•Pixar film “Toy Story 3” have been added to the adventure of Toy Story Mania! at Disney California Adventure and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In addition to playing with new characters in Toy Story Mania!, there are opportunities in both parks for up-close fun with a new character from “Toy Story 3” – Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear. He’s the bossman at Sunnyside Daycare in the animated feature film.
Woody, Buzz, Mr. Potato Head and the gang are joined by a whole new set of characters from “Toy Story 3.” The new game greeting guests, “Rex and Trixie’s Dino Darts,” invites riders to shoot their virtual darts at all-new balloon targets in a primeval world filled with volcanoes and lava balloons.
Game players are welcomed by Rex (the nervous Tyrannosaurus rex) and his new friend Trixie (a blue Triceratops and one of the toy characters from the new film) cheering them on. The new game (it replaces “Bo Peep’s Baaa-loon Pop”) turns up the fun with more hidden surprises. Other changes:
The “Hamm & Eggs” game is now hosted by Hamm and Buttercup (a toy unicorn with heart-shaped nostrils).

In the prize scene, Trixie, Buttercup, Dolly (a doll), Mr. Pricklepants (a lederhosen-clad hedgehog) and one other surprise – all from “Toy Story 3” – appear with Woody and Jessie.

Summer Nightastic!’ – June 6 – August 14, 2010 at Walt Disney World

Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot all present special events designed to add summertime energy to the after-dark theme-park experience.

At Magic Kingdom, thousands of tiny lights illuminate the return of the beloved “Main Street Electrical Parade,” and the elaborate new “Summer Nightastic! Fireworks Spectacular” paints the night sky more brightly than ever.

At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, The Twilight Zone™ Tower of Terror adds new effects – and a summer-only drop sequence – to the mix for guests daring to step into the attraction’s infamous service elevator for a ride into the “fifth dimension.” And on Hollywood Boulevard, in the shadow of the 122-foot-tall Mickey’s Sorcerer’s Hat icon, guests are invited to the Rock n’ Glow Dance Party, where a DJ and live rock band keep popular tunes coming five nights a week.

At Epcot, live “Sounds Like Summer” tribute-band concerts rock guests each evening from June 12 to July 31 with familiar tunes ranging from “Hotel California” to “Stayin’ Alive.”
